Dance Base, National Centre for Dance, Edinburgh is on a mission to get more people dancing.
Dance Base operates a stunning £6.4m, award-winning, four studio centre in the city and a beautiful 1920’s listed heritage building in Leith.
Professional dancers are supported with a daily classes, workshops, funded residency space, on-site treatment room and the Catalyst dance management service; all funded by Creative Scotland.
Dance Base operates the largest programme of participatory dance in the UK with 130+ classes each week in 45+ different styles for everyone aged 1 to 100. The Outreach programme works with everyone from all walks of life both in the community and in Dance Base’s studios with specially tailored programmes including the opportunity to perform. During the August Edinburgh Festival Fringe the Grassmarket studios are transformed theatre spaces with around 10 shows a day of the best Scottish and international contemporary dance.
